Aardman Academy offers three bursary places for its online stop-motion courses

Aardman Academy has opened three bursary-supported places across its Stop Motion 1 and Stop Motion 2 online courses. The scheme is intended for applicants who are underrepresented in animation or who face barriers to creative education and employment, including people from low-income backgrounds, carers, people returning after a career break, disabled or neurodivergent applicants, and people living in areas with limited access to training. The page states that selection is based on applicants' circumstances and motivation rather than writing ability, and that successful applicants are due to be notified on 31 July 2026.

The two courses address different stages of professional development. Stop Motion 1 is a 12-week foundation course beginning in September 2026, while Stop Motion 2 is an advanced 12-week course scheduled for January 2027. Both are presented as industry-led online training, and the wider Stop Motion 1 course description includes live lectures, weekly animation assignments, one-to-one mentor feedback, a professional armature, Dragonframe software and controller access, and a final animated project. The bursary therefore covers not only tuition but access to a structured production workflow and specialist equipment that can otherwise be difficult for emerging animators to obtain.
