Canon EOS R6 V adds an optional stop-motion animation firmware configuration

Canon's EOS R6 V has joined the company's cameras available with an optional paid Stop Motion Animation Firmware configuration. The stop-motion version is designed for computer-controlled frame capture and raises the remote live-view feed from 960×640 to 1920×1280, giving animators a clearer image for checking focus, puppet position, surface detail, and small continuity changes before exposing each frame.

The firmware also supports focus-position memory recall with compatible RF lenses and allows aperture control from Dragonframe. Computer-controlled aperture locking is particularly relevant to stop-motion production because it can reduce exposure variation caused by the lens aperture closing independently for each frame.
