Howard Jones on rig removal and clay clean-up for Aardman's Early Man

In a Rotoscopers interview, Early Man VFX supervisor Howard Jones (axisVFX) describes the baseline post-production task on Aardman's clay-puppet feature: "The simplest stuff we do is to remove rigs, and clean up any puncture wounds on the clay." He also explains the studio's editorial line between erasing the rig apparatus and preserving clay's handmade texture, deliberately keeping "fingerprints and all the actual natural attributes that comes with the clay-motion" rather than scrubbing the surface clean.
