PFCAT 2026 spotlights 30+ stop-motion films as LAIKA's Wildwood and Aardman's Beast of Mossy Bottom near release
The Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology (PFCAT), Aug 18-23, 2026, features more than 30 stop-motion works including two features -- Heinrich Sabl's Memory Hotel (already catalogued, a 25-years-in-the-making German/French co-production) and a LAIKA studio panel -- alongside a Creator Expo where attendees can view original puppets. Cartoon Brew's regular coverage this run also surfaced LAIKA's Wildwood trailer (Travis Knight, Oct 23 release) and Aardman's Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom trailer, plus indie paper-cutout short Boundaries by Korea-based Seun Yee (premiered MIFF Aug 2026) -- all five were checked against the catalogue and were already fully enriched from prior runs, so no new edits were needed this sweep.
