LAIKA shapes Wildwood release strategy around eventized theatrical screenings

At Annecy, LAIKA president and director Travis Knight presented an extended look at Wildwood and described the feature as the studio's most ambitious production. The project has been developed since shortly after Coraline, and the presentation linked that long development period to the scale of the handcrafted world, the number of characters and the studio's continuing effort to expand what stop-motion can carry as a feature-film medium.

The report also places Wildwood inside LAIKA's current theatrical strategy. Rather than treating the film as an isolated release, the studio is drawing lessons from the successful eventized re-releases of Coraline and ParaNorman and from Annecy's role as an international launch platform. That makes the story useful not only as a production update, but as evidence of how a specialist stop-motion studio is rebuilding audience access through repertory screenings, festival visibility and a tailored distribution plan.
