MOTK Media Tools launches with Universal VideoCutter and a shared Companion contract

MOTK Media Tools has opened in public beta as a browser surface for small, repeatable media jobs that should not require uploading production sources to a cloud service. Its first module is Universal VideoCutter: an editor or production team can choose a local movie, read marker ranges from Premiere, Resolve, Kdenlive or a generic CSV/TSV, check the names and timing before work begins, then create one named MP4 per range. Accurate mode re-encodes for frame-level boundaries; Fast mode preserves streams but may begin at the nearest keyframe. The finished browser batch is saved as a ZIP, and the source movie remains in browser memory.

The more important release is the boundary beneath the interface. MOTK Media Tools and MOTK Companion now share the CC0 Media Job and Media Result 1.0 contracts, so the browser and local app describe the same operation in the same canonical seconds-based form. When a file is too large for safe browser memory, Universal VideoCutter can prepare a Companion job using relative paths below the production root chosen by the operator. Companion rejects absolute and parent-traversal paths, keeps RAW and MOTK_ORIGINALS boundaries read-only to general processing, creates a numbered output instead of overwriting an existing file, reports marker progress, resumes already completed markers and records SHA-256 for every artifact.

This is the first module, not a repackaging of private production software. The implementation was written against a newly documented public contract and synthetic marker/media tests; no private MEGATOOLS or MegaProd source, interface, production file or personal image was copied. The existing downloadable VideoCutter remains available for compatibility. Planned capture review, A/B comparison, sequence/movie conversion, QC and editorial handoff modules will reuse the same job and safety layer rather than each inventing a separate filesystem workflow.
