MOTK Shoot 0.4.7 beta adds a focused Windows stop-motion studio without removing the timeline
MOTK Shoot 0.4.7-beta.1 adds MOTK Shoot Local, a focused Windows application for animators who want the camera-room workflow without production administration or post-production controls filling the screen. It is deliberately not reduced to a still-camera shutter: Capture and TEST remain beside the exposure timeline, holds, frame stepping, scrub, loop and normal playback, remove and Undo, reverse and ping-pong, onion skin, guides, layers, audio/X-Sheet, local mirror, project backup, movie export and image-sequence export. Production management, Review/A-B, the external bridge and the After Effects, Resolve and Autograph panels are hidden in this edition rather than mixed into everyday shooting.
The Windows ZIP has one user-facing entry, MOTK Shoot Local.exe, plus one _internal folder containing application files. It opens a dedicated Edge application window on a loopback-only local server and keeps recovery projects in a dedicated browser profile. Every accepted frame still enters project-scoped IndexedDB first; choosing a local capture folder adds a visible collision-safe JPEG mirror, and tethered originals remain immutable. A normal reload or camera restart stays in the same shoot. Closing the application starts a clean shoot next time by default, while earlier projects remain explicitly reopenable. Browser/UVC capture needs no Companion; optional vendor-SDK controls and camera-owned RAW/JPEG capture keep the existing authenticated MOTK Companion boundary.
The ordinary Web edition and source ZIP remain available and share the same capture, timeline and playback core, so the local edition is not a divergent rewrite. The already accepted cross-machine path remains in the full edition: a shot can begin from previs or an existing take, and later photographed passes enter the compositor-owned After Effects project as immutable numbered deliveries instead of rebuilding it.
Resolve packages carry FCPXML 1.10, OTIO, relative capture/reference media and a helper based on the documented Resolve 21 ImportTimelineFromFile API. Real Windows acceptance in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.0.1.11 exposed one portability defect: Resolve rejected the package-root placeholder in the otherwise portable FCPXML. The corrected helper imports the verified FCPXML without rewriting the immutable package. It imported three 640x360 capture stills with exact 2/3/1-frame holds at 12 fps, rendered a six-frame H.264 MOV and published an append-only return folder with return.json and READY. A second installed-app pass moved all three source files to force missing media, then restored every timeline item through Resolve's official unlink/relink APIs. The generated OTIO was corrected to modern Clip.2 media_references and validates with OpenTimelineIO 0.18.1, but Resolve 21 still rejects repeated still-image OTIO; FCPXML is therefore the verified Resolve path, while OTIO remains a standards-valid interchange artifact.
Autograph packages carry relative materials, an import list, neutral shot timing and an optional studio .agp copied byte-for-byte; MOTK deliberately does not generate or rewrite proprietary .agp projects. Maxon Autograph 2026.0.2 on Windows imported three capture stills and one previs reference, displayed all four 640x360 media items, saved a disposable project and completed Collect Files with the project plus all four resources. A generated capture still was then placed as a real composition layer and rendered by Autograph as a 1920x1080, 24 fps, 30-second Apple ProRes 422 HQ MOV with 720 frames. Its 640x360 H.264 viewing copy passed the supplied PUBLISH_RETURN helper and produced append-only return_0001 with valid return.json and READY markers. The evidence boundary is intentional: composition construction remains artist-owned, and originals, prior packages, application projects and returned previews remain append-only and destination-owned.
