Nina Gantz’s Wander to Wonder receives an official free online release
Nina Gantz’s stop-motion short Wander to Wonder has been made freely available through Miyu Distribution’s Bang Bang YouTube channel after an extensive festival run. Animation World Network reports that the 13-minute-45-second film reached 188 festival selections, received 49 awards and earned an Academy Award nomination before this wider online release, giving audiences a legal route to see a prominent recent independent stop-motion production outside the festival circuit.
The film follows Mary, Billybud and Fumbleton, miniature performers from an imagined 1980s children’s television programme who remain inside the studio after their creator dies. The article also notes that Gantz developed the project over eight years and built its tone around the contrast between the comforting surface of children’s television and the increasingly difficult conditions behind the set. The online release therefore preserves both the finished work’s public accessibility and a useful production-history reference for independent stop-motion research.
