SMOF 2026 launches Núcleo Latam animation market alongside its ninth festival edition

SMOF's ninth edition expands beyond screenings and training with Núcleo Latam, described as the festival's first Latin American animation market. The three-day programme is designed to bring projects from the region into structured meetings with producers, studios, distributors, platforms and institutions, creating a practical route toward development, co-production, financing and circulation rather than treating the festival only as an exhibition event.

The wider 2026 edition runs in Buenos Aires from 20 to 26 July and combines almost 100 competing stop-motion shorts with masterclasses, workshops, talks and the eighth Latin American Stop Motion Laboratory. Fourteen developing animation projects are scheduled to receive individual guidance from international professionals and compete for more than ten support prizes, placing project development and professional exchange alongside the public programme.
