Inside Tippett Studio's stop-motion Cyclops puppet for Poker Face
Tippett Studio built a stop-motion Cyclops creature for "The Orpheus Syndrome," an Emmy-nominated episode of Peacock's Poker Face (director Rian Johnson) that pays tribute to Phil Tippett's own creature-effects legacy. On Adam Savage's Tested channel, animation supervisor Tom "Gibby" Gibbons walked through the finished puppet: a machined internal armature, a hand-crafted body, and kitbashed parts salvaged from other model kits for surface detail -- the same fabrication logic Industrial Light and Magic's model shop used on the original Star Wars miniatures, applied here to a stop-motion creature rather than a spaceship. Tippett Studio credits VFX producer Lisa Cooke and VFX supervisor Chris Morley alongside Gibbons on the episode. The technique, and its Star Wars-era history, is now written up on the Wiki's new Kitbashing page.
