Aardman lit Gromit's garden to foreshadow Norbot's arrival before he's seen
Senior lighting camera Laura Howie and gaffer Sally Wattiaux built Gromit's garden on Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl as a narrative lighting problem, not a decorative one. The key came from behind the house, angled across the garden path, with Altman ellipsoidal spotlights accenting the flowers, a Cucoloris breaking up the beam, a Junior fresnel as a separate key by the door, fill boards angled to dodge window reflections, and silver kicker boards for edge light. Howie framed the brief directly -- "the lighting has to tell this story" -- keeping the garden bright and cheerful to establish Gromit's mood while letting the shadow of an approaching delivery crate foreshadow Norbot's arrival before he is seen. Because the feature ran multiple animation units at once, the crew built and lit two physical copies of the garden set simultaneously so lighting stayed matched across shots cut together from different stages weeks apart. The fixture list and the continuity approach are folded into the wiki's miniature lighting strategy page.
