Niki Lindroth von Bahr's The End premieres in Cannes Official Short Film Competition; Aardman confirms Tom Parkinson to direct Pokemon x Aardman series
Swedish stop-motion director Niki Lindroth von Bahr (The Burden, Bath House) premiered her 15-minute stop-motion short The End -- a dark tale of death at an international airport, voiced by Noomi Rapace, Alexander Skarsgard, Tuva Novotny, Denis Lavant and Anna Mouglalis -- in the Cannes Official Short Film Competition. Separately, Aardman and The Pokemon Company International confirmed director Tom Parkinson for Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd and Pichu (2027) at their Annecy 2026 panel, where never-before-seen pilot footage was shown.
