Indy Shorts 2026 crowns Bára Anna Stejskalová's stop-motion/CGI hybrid '9 Million Colors'; Brothers Quay's Annecy honor surfaces
9 Million Colors (Bionaut/Foliascope/Trollfilm), a dialogue-free stop-motion/CGI hybrid short about a mantis shrimp and a blind fish, won the Academy Award-Qualifying Animated Grand Prize at the 2026 Indy Shorts Film Festival. Separately, Variety's Annecy 2026 coverage confirmed the Brothers Quay each received an Honorary Cristal lifetime-achievement award and led a masterclass at the June festival -- now reflected on their catalogue page. Aardman's Pokemon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd and Pichu also continues generating coverage (Disney+ global deal reported this week) but was already fully catalogued from an earlier sweep.
