Ball Face and Pembe & Eflatun lead the StopTrik 2026 winners
The 16th StopTrik International Film Festival in Maribor, Slovenia (September 23-27) announced its awards on September 27. Audiences gave the Stop Motion Animation Grand Prix to Laurence Thérien's Ball Face, a day after it took four awards at Ottawa, and the Borderlands Grand Prix to The Truth Rejects You, Cornelius by Khris Cembe and Marc Torices. The jury award for stop motion went to Pembe & Eflatun by Alix Bortoli and Dal Park, produced by Minem Sezgin de Boer. The jury cited its sand-and-monochrome picture of a society run by capital. Mariana Leal's Making It Fit (Animate Projects) received a special mention. In Borderlands, the festival's lane for hybrid work, Geena Gasser's Banana Soup (Schattenkabinett) won the jury award and Ria Riwen Zhang's Fly Train received a mention. Young Audience Awards went to Piccolo Piccolo (Marta Gennari; Folimage and Nadasdy Film), Cell Buddies (Sint Joost School of Art & Design) and PAI PAI EP06: Typhoon's Coming (Hugo Huang; TurnRhino Original Design Studio). All winners are now in the catalogue.
